This home generates its own clean energy and holds the highest energy-efficiency rating—A—while seamlessly adapting to its surroundings through a smart-home ecosystem.

With a Honka log home, you’re choosing advanced sustainability, exceptional indoor-air wellness, and intelligent technology that elevates everyday living. Every modern feature is thoughtfully integrated to preserve the natural harmony and timeless aesthetic of solid wood construction.

Honka Haiku, showcased at Finland’s 2022 Housing Fair, represents the pinnacle of this approach. Its A-rated performance comes from next-generation thin-film solar panels, low-emission materials, and class-leading airtightness.

The solar array provides clean power year-round, covering nearly 10% of the home’s total energy needs, while Honka’s precision engineering delivers an airtightness score of q50 = 0.5—proof that a log home can be both breathable and exceptionally efficient. As Product Director Eino Hekali explains, “The idea of draughty log houses is outdated. A Honka home breathes naturally while remaining airtight and comfortable.

## **Wellness Built Into Every Detail**

Honka is committed to creating homes that support long-term health and a sustainable future—without asking you to compromise on comfort or design. Solid wood naturally provides clean, refreshing indoor air, and Honka enhances this with M1-certified, low-emission materials throughout the home. Every surface, fixture, sealant, and ventilation duct is selected to ensure your living environment remains free from harmful compounds.

Honka Haiku takes this a step further with intelligent air-quality technology. Bedroom sensors continually monitor indoor air and adjust ventilation automatically, while discreet wireless IoT sensors track moisture levels in wet rooms, concrete floors, and the log structure itself. The result is a home that actively protects your well-being, balancing natural materials with modern innovation.

> The idea of log houses being draughty is outdated. A log house breathes, i.e., keeps the humidity at a safe level while being airtight.

## Experience the Power of the Forest

Honka Haiku is a collaboration between architect Marko Simsiö, interior designer Maru Hautala, and landscape architect Asako Hashimoto—an elegant fusion of Nordic craftsmanship and Japanese-inspired harmony. Thoughtfully placed within a pristine coastal landscape, the home is designed to honor its surroundings, preserving the rocky terrain and towering pines.

Inside, natural wood takes center stage, creating a warm, modern sanctuary. Outdoors, a tranquil Japanese garden extends the home’s calming aesthetic, while the sauna and spa area evoke an onsen-like retreat—bringing the restorative energy of nature into every moment at home.
