"Every day, I am filled with gratitude for this life. Returning home, I'm continuously awestruck by its beauty; this place, its landscape, and our home will forever inspire me."

The decision to build a log home was rooted in a commitment to ecological responsibility and a desire for superior indoor air quality, hallmarks of sustainable luxury. The intrinsic warmth and character of a wooden home, combined with its environmental benefits, made it an obvious choice. Their selection of Honka was informed by Heidi's intimate knowledge of the company's adaptable models and its sterling reputation for reliability.
"My father has commissioned several custom homes from Honka," Heidi explains. "Through my close involvement as an interior designer in his company's projects at Rimito Living, I was confident Honka possessed the expertise to deliver our exacting specifications."
Their residence, a Honka Lux model, was meticulously tailored by Honka designer Marko Lehtonen. It is a testament to bespoke luxury, where the surrounding landscape, natural light, and the family’s daily rhythms are harmoniously integrated, fostering a lifestyle of effortless elegance.
"Beyond impeccable functionality, it was paramount that nothing obstruct our panoramic views," Heidi states. "We sought to revel in the scenery from dawn till dusk, even from within our home. The Lux model, with its expansive windows, was ideal. Our home was designed without visible terrace pillars, and the glass railing seamlessly merges with the environment. The extended overhang, while aesthetically striking, also provides essential protection for the terrace and mitigates excessive sun exposure indoors."
Heidi found immense gratification in overseeing her family's construction journey, from its inception to completion. "It was immensely rewarding to meticulously follow the construction's progress and to select every surface material and interior design element at each stage," she recounts.
This personal endeavor ignited a new passion within Heidi: to assist others in realizing their own architectural aspirations, particularly within the enchanting Turku archipelago. "I am deeply passionate about creating refined interiors and managing complex projects. My intimate familiarity with the archipelago — its unique opportunities and specific requirements — enables me to guide clients," she affirms. "Leveraging my network and collaborating with trusted partners, I can transform ambitious and intricate island dreams into reality, from concept to completion. There's profound satisfaction in helping clients bring their visions to life."
It was wonderful to follow in detail how the construction progressed, and to make surface material and interior design solutions during the various stages.
